Russian cosmonauts Oleg Kononenko and Nikolai Chub conducted their first spacewalk of 2024 on April 25. The news was reported by the online publication "TurkmenPortal."
During the spacewalk, the cosmonauts were tasked with installing equipment such as "Kvarts" and "TKK-KM" on the "Poisk" module, fully deploying the second panel of the small-sized radar experiment "Napor-miniRSA" on the "Nauka" module. This marked Oleg Kononenko's seventh spacewalk and Nikolai Chub's second.
Kononenko wore the "Orlan-MKS" No. 5 spacesuit with red stripes, while Chub wore a spacesuit with blue stripes. The spacewalk lasted for 6 hours and 36 minutes. The operations in open space were live-streamed on the "Roscosmos" YouTube channel.
Oleg Kononenko hails from Turkmenabat and was honored with the title of Hero of Turkmenistan in 2019.
