Implementation of 12-Year School Education Structure to be Done in Two Stages

in Education / Kyrgyzstan - by

The implementation of the 12-year school education structure will be carried out through two stages, as outlined in the draft resolution by the Cabinet of Ministers, which has been put up for public discussion.

The document aims to approve an action plan focused on modernizing school education (revising state standards) and preparing school infrastructure, including improving material-technical resources and equipping schools with educational and other equipment.

In the first stage, planned for 2024-2025, changes will be made to regulatory acts in the fields of education and healthcare, revising programs for preschool, primary, basic, and secondary education, as well as programs for professional education aimed at training and retraining teaching staff.

At this stage, an analysis of existing educational-methodical complexes (textbooks and teaching aids for educators) will be conducted, and textbooks from international educational programs in STEM fields, including computer science and English, will be purchased with mandatory adaptation and subsequent printing.

Simultaneously, a concept for the 12-year school general education and an action plan for its implementation will be developed. The model, structure, competency requirements for students, and other activities along with their implementation timelines will be detailed.

The second stage, set for 2025-2026, will involve further printing of educational-methodical complexes, improving material-technical resources, and introducing an enhanced digital platform for enrolling children of school age in first grade. Additionally, work will be completed on preparing teaching staff for both primary and senior classes.

The adoption of the resolution project will require additional funding from the national budget, although the exact amount is not specified in the justification document.
