During a committee meeting, Deputy Kamila Talieva highlighted the dire condition of textbooks in schools. She mentioned that only 16 books were published in 2023, all of which were dull and outdated. Talieva expressed concern over the lack of variety in authors since the 90s, with textbooks being reprinted annually. She called for alternative options and raised issues regarding the "book mafia," leading to criminal cases against education ministers. Talieva emphasized the severity of the situation, stating that 152 million soms were allocated from the national budget for book provision in 2024. She warned that without action, a repeat of the previous year's textbook shortage would occur in September. Talieva stressed the importance of learning from the lessons of 2023.
