Islamic Development Bank allocates $10 million to strengthen education in Kyrgyzstan.

The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) will allocate $10 million to strengthen the education system in Kyrgyzstan. This was announced by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev during panel discussions at the annual meetings of the IDB in Riyadh.

As part of the cooperation under the Global Partnership for Education, support has been provided for the implementation of a project to strengthen the foundations of education amounting to $4.8 million. This has enabled the completion of rehabilitation work on 41 community kindergartens, the purchase of necessary furniture and educational play materials for 60 community kindergartens, and the development of a digital educational course for distance learning of teachers and preschool children in the STEM direction for the first time.

"I would like to separately note the technical assistance in developing the education development strategy of the Kyrgyz Republic from 2021 to 2040. The implementation of this component will be an impetus for the development of the entire education sector in the country. The funds allocated by the Saudi Development Fund in the amount of $500 million will be directed towards the construction of 36 state schools and 10 educational institutions. On the part of the Islamic Development Bank, funding of $10 million is expected to strengthen the education system in Kyrgyzstan," said the official.
