Legendary Tajik Singer Parda Kasim Laid to Rest in Dushanbe

Popular artist of Tajikistan, well-known Tajik singer Parda Kasim, who passed away at the age of 77 in Dushanbe on June 21, was laid to rest yesterday at the capital's cemetery in Luchob.

Representatives of the creative intelligentsia and famous singers of Tajikistan took part in the farewell ceremony to the deceased.

In the last days of his life, the singer was undergoing treatment as he had been suffering from diabetes for a long time.

Parda Kasim was born on October 13, 1947, in Vose district. In 1965, he graduated from the Republican School of Culture and Enlightenment of Lenin district (now the district college of culture of Rudaki) and for over 30 years, he was a singer and artistic director of the song and dance ensemble "Shodi" of Panj district.

Since 1998, he was a soloist of the dance group "Lola".

He performed classical and contemporary Tajik music pieces. He also sang songs in Uzbek, Turkmen, Arabic, Russian, and other languages, and went on creative trips to Afghanistan, Iran, Yemen, Spain, and other countries.

He was awarded the Order of Honor and the title of People's Artist of Tajikistan.
