The United Nations General Assembly on June 7 unanimously approved the resolution "International Day of Dialogue among Civilizations" developed by China and Uzbekistan, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The resolution declares June 10 as the International Day of Dialogue among Civilizations with the aim of raising awareness about the value of civilization diversity and promoting dialogue, mutual respect, and global solidarity. More than 80 UN member states, including all Central Asian countries, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bahrain, Hungary, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, UAE, Pakistan, Russia, and Turkey, are co-authors of the resolution.
"The document reflects the vision of the leadership of Uzbekistan voiced at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in 2023 and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in 2022 on the need to promote the spirit of solidarity for the sake of common security and prosperity, the pursuit of constructive cooperation, as well as mobilizing the efforts of the international community to achieve peace and sustainable prosperity," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
The resolution positively acknowledges the contribution made by all cultures and civilizations to enriching humanity, recognizing the significant importance of religious and cultural diversity in the world. It encourages tolerance, respect, dialogue, and cooperation among different cultures and civilizations.
