During a meeting between the Uzbek Minister of Transport Ilhom Makhkamov and the leadership of CITIC Construction, it was revealed that the Chinese company is interested in participating in the reconstruction of the Tashkent-Chinaz highway. The discussions also included projects in the construction and reconstruction of roads in Uzbekistan.
CITIC Construction expressed its willingness to be involved in the reconstruction of the Pungan-Namangan roads (a project already approved by the president) and the Tashkent-Chinaz highway, as well as in the construction of new toll roads using modern solutions. Minister Makhkamov emphasized the importance of building these roads quickly with modern technologies that meet international standards, while also focusing on reducing construction costs.
The company announced that it is reviewing the projects and will present project proposals in the coming days. In early January 2022, the president approved a project to repair a 10 km section of the Tashkent-Chinaz highway, which includes the construction of five underground passages and access roads.
