President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan visited the ADM Jizzakh car plant during his trip to the Jizzakh region on April 8th. The plant, owned by Roodell, was established in 2021 and has produced 36,000 cars of 23 different models under the Kia, Chery, and Haval brands over the past three years. With an investment of $234 million, the project has created 1800 jobs.
The initial stage of the plant focused on large-scale assembly production while expanding its facilities. New buildings and capacities were put into operation in March this year, enabling the establishment of a high-tech production line including stamping, welding, painting, and assembly.
Equipped with machinery from South Korea, Japan, and Germany, the plant boasts 30 robots with a 33% automation rate. It also features equipment for testing the functionality of car chassis, static and dynamic brake systems.
The President emphasized the need to enhance localization levels and expand cooperation with industrial enterprises in the country. Plans are set to localize 348 types of components between 2024 and 2027, with existing cooperative ties established with 21 Uzbek companies.
The plant has the capacity to produce 100,000 cars annually, with aims to increase job opportunities to 3000. To improve car quality, skilled specialists from South Korea, India, China, and Vietnam have been engaged. Starting from 2024, a group of 50 engineers will undergo training in research and design centers in South Korea and China.
During the visit, the President inspected the new Kia Sonet car, whose production recently commenced at the plant.
