Uzbekistan's Car Market Overview for 2023: UzAuto Motors Dominates with 81% Share

The car market in Uzbekistan for the year 2023 has been revealed to have reached a total of 456.3 thousand units. This information was disclosed during a presentation at the ADM Jizzakh car plant, which the president visited on Monday, as reported by "Gazeta.uz".

UzAuto Motors holds the majority share in the market with 369.99 thousand cars, accounting for 81% of the market share, valued at 4.85 billion dollars. Each car on average costs $13.1 thousand. ADM Jizzakh occupies 5.5% of the market with 25 thousand cars, totaling 823 million dollars ($32.9 thousand per car). The rest of the market is filled by imports, including 8,948 BYD cars worth 291 million dollars ($32.5 thousand per car), and 50,435 cars of other models valued at 1.197 billion dollars (averaging $23.7 thousand per car), along with the production of an additional 1,965 cars.

ADM Jizzakh has plans to increase its production to 60 thousand units to cover imports, aiming to add value worth 520 million dollars and reduce the retail prices of its products.

In the previous year, UzAuto Motors manufactured approximately 118.1 thousand Cobalt cars, over 82.1 thousand Gentra cars, 89.1 thousand Damas cars, 48.08 thousand Tracker cars, 30.6 thousand Onix cars, as well as an additional 25.6 thousand specialized vehicles. Meanwhile, the ADM Jizzakh plant released 9,829 Chery cars (a growth of 23.3 times) and 15,036 KIA cars (a growth of 2.5 times).

According to the latest available data up to January-October 2023, Uzbekistan imported 22.49 thousand electric cars, with 20.6 thousand of them (91.7%) originating from China.
