Following the results of the third Tashkent International Investment Forum, agreements totaling $26.6 billion were signed, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade.
In 2023, during the forum, 167 documents were signed for $11 billion, and in 2022, for $7.8 billion.
Notably, agreements were reached for the implementation of the following major investment projects:
- Data Volt from Saudi Arabia plans to build urban infrastructure in New Tashkent amounting to $1 billion and establish a data processing center based on green technologies for $3 billion.
- Another Saudi company, Acwa Power, intends to build a 5 GW wind power plant in Karakalpakstan and create 2 GW energy storage devices for a total of $6.2 billion.
- Amea Power from the UAE will construct a 1000 MW wind power plant in Karakalpakstan for $1.1 billion.
- Saudi Tabrid from Saudi Arabia will start modernizing the heating supply system in Nukus, Ferghana, and Kuvasai for $750 million.
- Nil Shugar from Egypt will engage in sugar beet cultivation and sugar production in the Jizzakh region for $500 million.
- The Chinese company Shanghai Knud International plans to implement a project for the production of textile and sewing products in Namangan region for $205 million.
- Wilmar International from Singapore intends to produce food products and confectionery in Tashkent region for $200 million.
Furthermore, agreements were reached with companies such as Orascom Investment (Egypt), Bonafarm Group (Hungary), Sayar (USA), Goldwind, Sinoma (China), Sam Yapi (Turkey), Pasha Development (Azerbaijan), Lasselsberger (Austria), Petrosat Chexelsoton (Iran) for the implementation of new investment projects totaling $6.6 billion.
Over 2500 participants from 93 countries took part in the event.
One of the key events of the forum was the presentation of regional energy projects (construction of Kambaratinskaya HPP-1 and Yavansky HPP) to foreign investors. The presentation was attended by the Prime Ministers of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
The event included a program of panel sessions, discussions, business breakfasts, and roundtable discussions. The central theme was the role of the state, investors, and entrepreneurs in supporting small and medium-sized businesses.
On May 2, the first day of the Tashkent International Investment Forum, Shavkat Mirziyoyev listed planned measures to strengthen the protection of investors' rights in Uzbekistan: adoption of the "Investment" law in a new edition according to WTO standards, the start of operation of the International Commercial Court in the country, and doubling the lease term of land for foreign investors.
