The cost of the paid road along the Tashkent — Andijan route is estimated at 4.65 billion US dollars. This was announced on May 2 at the Tashkent International Investment Forum by Deputy Minister of Transport Jasurbek Choriev.

Speaking at a panel session dedicated to infrastructure investment projects, the deputy head of the Ministry of Transport mentioned that the work on the project of the toll road is almost completed. The technical and economic justification of the project is planned to be prepared by the end of June.

According to him, the total length of the road, which will connect the capital and the regions of the Fergana Valley, will be 314 km.

The project of the toll highway Tashkent — Andijan has been under discussion since 2019. In 2021, it was reported that its cost would exceed 2 billion US dollars. Representatives of the World Bank then estimated that the toll fee on the road will be around 5-7 dollars for cars, 15 dollars for trucks and buses.

Jasurbek Choriev also mentioned the project of the Trans-Afghan railway, which will connect Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, and is expected to reduce the delivery time of goods from the Indian Ocean ports to Central Asia from 35 to 5 days.

"The cost of delivering goods will decrease by at least 40%. It is expected that the project will be completed by the end of 2027," he said.

Another important project mentioned by Choriev is the China — Kyrgyzstan — Uzbekistan railway. The project of the 454 km long line is estimated at 5.1 billion US dollars.

In addition, based on the experience of Samarkand, it is planned to transfer the management of Urgench airport under a public-private partnership, the deputy minister announced.
