Kyrgyzstan is set to purchase 100 urban passenger buses Isuzu SAZ LE-60 from Uzbekistan, as announced by the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund (UKDF). The leasing agreement was signed on March 13th at the fund's office with the municipality of Osh, Kyrgyzstan. The fund will provide financing for the acquisition of low-floor passenger buses produced by the Samarkand Automobile Plant (SamAuto), aimed at expanding and modernizing the public transport fleet in Osh.
This agreement marks the second deal for the development fund, following the leasing contract signed at the end of February with ZAO "Akun" for 10 Isuzu trucks manufactured by SamAuto.
In November 2023, discussions were held between the Tourism Committee and the Tourism Development Fund of Kyrgyzstan regarding additional routes from Osh to the Uzbekistan border through the supply of buses produced by SamAuto, according to Spot.
The Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund was established in accordance with an intergovernmental agreement signed on March 11, 2021, during a bilateral summit in Tashkent. The fund is managed by a council and a board, with two representatives from Kyrgyzstan and three from Uzbekistan in the council, and two citizens from Uzbekistan and three from Kyrgyzstan in the board.
