President Shavkat Mirziyoyev shared the innovative "Saihunabad Experience" during a meeting in the Syrdarya region, focusing on increasing incomes through utilizing household plots. This approach, introduced for the first time, will later be expanded nationwide.
Mirziyoyev set a goal to enhance the income of 17,000 individuals in the region by engaging household plots and developing small-scale industry and services. Officials are tasked with dividing the 19 mahallas and 794 streets, creating project plans for each mahalla to increase income.
Assistant district governors will devise business plans based on the criteria of generating 1-2 million Uzbekistani soms income from each hectare of household land. Each mahalla will receive a mini-tractor and 4 motor cultivators to provide agricultural services.
Furthermore, a company will be established in the region to support exports, with a capital injection of 1 billion soms. This entity will supply produce to 4000 households, purchase harvests, and handle exports. Grants ranging from 300 million to 1 billion soms will be allocated to exporters and innovative entrepreneurs.
Mirziyoyev highlighted that Saihunabad is one of 26 districts in Uzbekistan where household plots exceed 20 acres, but only 10% are utilized, mainly for clover and maize. Plans include creating intensive orchards in each of the 19 mahallas and constructing a storage and processing complex for 2000 tons of produce.
Households will cooperate with exporters, and 100 hectares of land along 98 km of canals will be allocated to 500 households for planting poplar trees through cooperative efforts. This initiative aims to not only increase incomes but also promote sustainable agricultural practices and economic growth in the region.
