Kazakhstan Prime Minister Unveils Support Measures for Local Producers amid Industrial Focus

in Politics / Kazakhstan - by

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektanov announced new measures to support producers in the country during a government meeting. Bektanov emphasized the government's task of building a strong industrial base in the country, stating that the processing sector is crucial for successful industrial development. He highlighted the importance of processing in the country's economy, noting its significant contribution compared to the mining sector. Bektanov urged for even higher standards to be set for the processing sector.

Currently, the processing sector in Kazakhstan is dominated by metallurgical industry, engineering, and food production. The focus now is on creating a production cycle with a high degree of localization. Bektanov stressed the importance of modernizing production processes, citing the global trend of digital technologies, robotics, and automation in manufacturing. He called for Kazakh enterprises to actively adopt new technologies to stay competitive globally, with sectoral government bodies facilitating the process.

Bektanov expressed confidence in the ability of Kazakh producers to launch new ventures or upgrade existing production facilities. The aim is to manufacture high value-added goods to retain profits in the country and enhance economic diversification. In the new Tax Code project, tax rates will be determined based on the complexity of production: lower rates for high value-added products and higher rates for raw material production. This measure is expected to boost production development.

On May 28, Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development Kanat Sharlapayev announced that Kazakhstan is gradually transitioning to a more advanced level of automobile assembly.
