Kyrgyzstan's State Debt Reaches $6.28 Billion in 2023

According to the Ministry of Finance, Kyrgyzstan's total state debt, both external and internal, amounted to $6.28 billion in 2023. Of this amount, $4.55 billion is external debt, while $1.57 billion is internal debt. Over the course of a month, the state debt increased by $164.55 million, with the external debt rising by $107.62 million and the internal debt by $56.92 million.

By the end of 2023, the state debt accounted for 45.53% of the revised GDP forecast. Multilateral loans make up over half (53.6%) of the external debt, totaling $2.49 billion. Additionally, the country owes $2.08 billion (44.9% of the external debt) in bilateral concessional loans. Notably, 36.7% of the country's external debt is owed to the Export-Import Bank of China, amounting to $1.71 billion by the end of 2023.
