The head of the Kyrgyzstan Oil Traders Association, Kanat Eshatov, announced on "Birinchi Radio" that the "Junda" oil refinery is ready to produce up to 850 thousand tons of fuel annually. This capacity can meet half of the country's domestic demand for gasoline.
Eshatov believes that restarting the refinery will have a positive impact on fuel prices in Kyrgyzstan. The "Junda" oil refinery has been idle since 2019. Representatives of the Chinese Shansin Coal Chemical Industrial Corporation have expressed their intention to proceed with the second phase of the refinery's construction, focusing on deep processing of Euro-Standard K5 petroleum products and polypropylene production.
It is planned that the refinery could be operational after modernization later this year. The revival of the "Junda" oil refinery signifies a significant step towards enhancing fuel production capacity in Kyrgyzstan and reducing dependence on imports.
