Kyrgyzstan is planning to import 3.5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity this year to accommodate consumption growth. This information was shared by the Deputy Minister of Energy Taalaibek Baigaziev at the XIII Atomexpo Forum.

In the previous year, the country imported 3.4 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity from Turkmenistan, Russia, and Kazakhstan. However, this reliance places strain on the transmission networks of neighboring Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

The official highlighted concerns about transportation networks during the winter period, noting that the system is not yet fully regulated.
