Kyrgyzstan Ministry of Energy, Rosatom, and Rusatom Service sign agreement to develop hydroenergy projects

The Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, the country office of Rosatom in Kyrgyzstan, and Rusatom Service have signed an agreement to collaborate on the development and implementation of small hydropower projects in Kyrgyzstan. The signing ceremony took place during the XIII Atomexpo Forum.

The contract was signed by Evgeny Salkov, the General Director of Rusatom Service, Taalaibek Ibraev, the Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, and Dmitry Konstantinov, the General Director of Rosatom's country office in Kyrgyzstan.

The agreement includes a commitment to work together on an investment project to build small hydropower facilities in Kyrgyzstan with a capacity of up to 400 megawatts. It also involves partnership in constructing hydroelectric power plants in various regions of Kyrgyzstan.

Kyrgyzstan is seen as having significant potential for the development of small hydropower and the construction of hydroelectric power plants. The deep expertise of Rosatom is expected to enable the creation of environmentally friendly energy sources, as well as the establishment of sustainable infrastructure and decent job opportunities in the region, as highlighted by Rusatom Service's General Director, Evgeny Salkov.

Minister Taalaibek Ibraev emphasized that Kyrgyzstan has created a favorable environment for international investments in hydroenergy projects. He expressed confidence that Rosatom's long-term investment plans in Kyrgyzstan will serve as a positive signal for domestic investors as well. Investments in the hydroenergy sector in Kyrgyzstan are considered profitable and reliable, with the government of the republic committed to supporting the construction of new hydroelectric projects at all levels.
