Integration of Renewable Energy and Nuclear Power to Ensure Energy Self-Sufficiency

in Economy / Kyrgyzstan - by

During the XIII AtomExpo Forum, Deputy Minister of Energy Taalaibek Baigaziev expressed optimism about Kyrgyzstan's energy future. He highlighted the country's potential in small hydropower plants, with ongoing construction projects and plans for additional capacities. Baigaziev emphasized the importance of integrating water-energy regulation and capacity expansion, citing agreements with neighboring countries and upcoming projects like wind farms with Novawind and the CASA-1000 initiative.

Baigaziev addressed the challenge of covering winter energy deficits during peak load hours, proposing the use of solar, wind, and nuclear energy to address this issue effectively. By diversifying energy sources and leveraging partnerships with neighboring nations, Kyrgyzstan aims to achieve energy self-sufficiency and potentially export electricity as it did 15 years ago. The construction of transmission lines and collaborations with Tajikistan and China are key steps in this strategic energy development plan.
