The General Director of the state corporation "Rosatom," Alexey Likhachev, announced today that Kyrgyzstan has great potential for the development of green energy. The country's leadership is keen on building small nuclear generation and wind power stations.
Likhachev stated that agreements have been reached for the construction of a 100-megawatt wind power station in the Issyk-Kul region. This is just the first step, as Kyrgyzstan plans to build wind power capacities of at least 1 gigawatt. Rosatom is also involved in developing Kyrgyzstan's hydroenergy sector, including projects like the construction of small hydroelectric power stations - "Leilek," "Djeruy," and "Chandalash."
This diversified approach to the energy sector's development will contribute to the republic's energy independence and sustainable growth, concluded Alexey Likhachev.
