An agreement has been signed between the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, "Novawind" company, and the country office of "Rosatom" in Kyrgyzstan for the construction of renewable energy facilities with a capacity of up to one gigawatt. The ceremony took place today during the XII Atomexpo Forum.
Deputy Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, Taalaibek Baygaziev, highlighted the signing of two important agreements at the Atomexpo Forum for the construction of small hydropower plants and wind and solar stations. The total capacity of the facilities will be approximately one gigawatt, located in Issyk-Kul, Naryn, and Batken regions.
Furthermore, other areas will also be considered for small hydropower plants in Talas and Jalal-Abad regions. The agreement will involve financial and techno-economic models to determine the technical characteristics and locations of the stations.
Baygaziev emphasized that the construction timeline for the stations is quite rapid, with the entire project expected to be completed within 2.5 years. The planned capacity of all stations currently stands at around one gigawatt, aiming to alleviate the strain on electricity supply.
Preliminary studies for wind and solar stations are already in place, with further refinements and adjustments to be made. Funding from "Rosatom" will be utilized for the construction of these facilities, as confirmed by the Deputy Minister of Energy.
