Deputy Minister of Energy Taalaibek Baigaziev shared plans to introduce a differentiated tariff system and phase out the old part of the Bishkek CHP plant. The new system aims to shift electricity consumption from peak hours to off-peak times, reducing costs for consumers. By automating energy consumption monitoring and installing smart meters, the country aims to optimize energy distribution and reduce station load fluctuations. This voluntary initiative will benefit consumers by evening out energy demand and minimizing operational disruptions.
Additionally, Kyrgyzstan plans to launch gas-powered thermal power stations in the capital, enhancing energy efficiency and reducing reliance on coal. Collaborating with Gazprom, the country aims to modernize existing plants and build new facilities, increasing gas consumption but improving overall energy production. By investing in cleaner technologies and additional units, the energy sector aims to enhance operational capacity and meet growing energy demands sustainably.
Furthermore, discussions are ongoing in the Jogorku Kenesh regarding tariff indexation for electricity generated from renewable sources. Proposals suggest monthly adjustments to the current annual indexation, ensuring a fair and stable pricing mechanism for renewable energy producers. By addressing tariff sustainability and promoting long-term viability, Kyrgyzstan seeks to balance energy costs and incentivize investments in renewable energy projects, ultimately fostering a greener and more efficient energy sector for the future.
