Eurasian Economic Commission Delays Implementation of Customs Regulations Changes

in Economy / Kyrgyzstan - by

The Eurasian Economic Commission has adjusted the effective date of various board decisions governing customs relations related to the finalization of transit declarations, goods declarations, and the utilization of structures and formats of specific customs documents. This update was communicated by the press service of the EEC.

Originally set to be enforced on April 1, 2024, the amendments have been deferred for one year. The decision was taken in light of challenges in refining and executing technical solutions in the information and software tools of customs authorities in select EAEU countries and to mitigate the risks of failing to meet the extended deadline for implementing certain EEC board decisions.

The EEC highlighted that the customs services of the EAEU countries need to ensure a simultaneous (synchronous) transition to the new forms and procedures for completing transit declarations. This shift is crucial for facilitating information exchange during the scrutiny of transit shipments.
