Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has signed the ratification of a credit agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for the project "Water Sector Sustainability Enhancement Program in the Kyrgyz Republic - Subprojects of the cities of Kadamjai, Tash-Kumyr, Kok-Zhangak, and Aidarken" and a grant agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the EBRD regarding an investment grant from the Special Shareholders Fund. The presidential press service reported this development.
The document was approved by the Jogorku Kenesh on January 17, 2024. It entails the completion of domestic procedures necessary for the ratification of the credit agreement between Kyrgyzstan and the EBRD.
The credit agreement involves the allocation of an 8 million euro loan to Kyrgyzstan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (consisting of four tranches for Kadamjai - up to 2 million euros, Tash-Kumyr - up to 2 million euros, Kok-Zhangak - up to 2 million euros, Aidarken - up to 2 million euros) for the procurement and delivery of workstations, office equipment, specialized transport vehicles, work and laboratory equipment, equipment for meter calibration and testing, construction of an administrative building, restoration and expansion of water supply systems in the aforementioned cities.
The grant agreement provides for the allocation of 8 million euros and 2.6 million euros to Kyrgyzstan for the rehabilitation and modernization of drinking water supply systems in the four cities.
