Kyrgyzstan is seriously considering the construction of a small nuclear power plant on its territory. Officials have stated that an agreement on this matter could be reached in the near future. The technical and economic justification for the project has been prepared by "Rosatom." Special working groups will now be established to undertake preparatory work. The proposed station model is the RITM-200H, a reactor known for its efficiency and safety in the global nuclear energy sector.

Deputy Energy Minister Taalaibek Baigaziev mentioned that the construction of a nuclear power plant is a complex process, taking up to a decade or more. The location for the future plant has not been determined yet, with potential sites in the Batken region or the northern part of the country being considered.

The need for a nuclear station in Kyrgyzstan is underscored by the country's energy deficits and the desire for long-term, reliable power generation. Officials believe that nuclear energy is a perspective worth exploring for the nation's future energy needs.
