Over the past two years, Kyrgyzstan has acquired a total of 1,533 buses, according to the Ministry of Finance. Last year, the capital city allocated 4.5138 billion soms from the national budget to purchase 1,000 buses. This year's budget includes an additional 4.3392 billion soms for bus procurement, with 3.3689 billion soms already allocated.
In March 2024, Osh municipality received 262.1 million soms to purchase 100 buses. A subcredit agreement of 25 million euros was signed with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for bus procurement in Bishkek, with 11.1 million euros already allocated for 124 gas buses.
Jalal-Abad city was granted a budgetary credit of 100 million soms for 10 buses, while Naryn municipality received 66 million soms for five buses. Additionally, two investment projects funded by international donors are underway. The "Urban Transport Electrification" project with the Asian Development Bank will bring 120 eco-friendly electric buses, and the "Bishkek Buses" project will introduce around 70 gas buses.
