The construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway is estimated at $8 billion, as announced by the Prime Minister Akylbek Japarov at an agro-industrial forum. This amount is considered preliminary, with Kyrgyzstan, China, and Uzbekistan having completed all preparations for the construction to commence this year. Currently, the technical and economic feasibility of the project is being updated.

The agreement on cooperation between the three countries for the construction of the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan-China railway project was signed in September 2022 in Samarkand. The document included the preparation of the project's feasibility study in the first half of last year. In December 2023, Chinese specialists completed fieldwork on the new railway route.

The implementation of this project, which has been discussed for over 20 years, is expected to serve as a foundation for expanding trade and transportation routes from China through Uzbekistan to Europe and the Persian Gulf states via the "Southern Corridor."
