The Kyrgyzstan Prime Minister, Akylbek Japarov, announced during a session of the Jogorku Kenesh that the country's GDP for the first quarter of 2024 has reached 248 billion som. He highlighted that this marks an impressive growth of 8.2% compared to the same period last year. Japarov also pointed out that in comparison to 2021, the nominal GDP has doubled.

Looking back at the numbers, in the first quarter of 2021, the GDP stood at 118 billion som, while in 2022 it increased to 146 billion som, and in 2023 it further rose to 184 billion som. Japarov acknowledged the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic, stating that the first quarter has historically been the most difficult period due to delays in work caused by funding shortages, leading to lower economic indicators.

The significant growth in GDP in the first quarter of 2024 is a positive sign for Kyrgyzstan's economy, indicating a strong recovery and resilience in the face of challenges. Japarov's remarks shed light on the efforts made to overcome obstacles and boost economic performance, setting a promising trajectory for the country's development in the coming months.
