Kyrgyzstan registers around 30 mining farms, with 8 operational, minister reveals

Kyrgyzstan has registered approximately 30 mining farms, as disclosed by the Minister of Energy, Taalaibek Ibraev, during a session of the Jogorku Kenesh. Out of these, only eight are operational, receiving energy from private mini-hydropower plants, amounting to 25.1 million kilowatt-hours. The mining company SolarCoin, in 2023, consumed 199 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, and in the first three months of 2024, 39.2 million kilowatt-hours. 

This company has a contract with Russia, according to the Minister. The rest of the companies, as mentioned by Ibraev, were registered in apartments and do not consume electricity. Earlier, the Deputy Minister of Energy, Atabek Abylgaziev, stated that Kyrgyzstan had around 25 registered mining companies.
