Starting from March 10, electricity shutdowns will be stopped in Kyrgyzstan. This announcement was made by the Minister of Energy, Taalaibek Ibraev, during a session of the Jogorku Kenesh.
"We promise a warming of 15-16 degrees from March 8. At this time, electricity consumption will decrease. We believe that from March 10, there will be no more restrictions," he stated.
Deputy Dastan Bekeshev highlighted the numerous complaints from citizens about the lack of electricity. He expressed frustration at the lack of response and information provided when contacting the call center.
The Minister of Energy responded by mentioning that all information is available on the "My Light" application, and schedules for electricity shutdowns are posted in every district and regional administration.
Bekeshev requested that the information be posted online to avoid citizens having to visit local authorities for inquiries.
The Minister of Energy added that electricity consumption increases during peak hours, hence the need for restrictions.
Previously, residents of the country's regions had complained about frequent power outages, reporting daily electricity shutdowns.
The National Electric Grid of Kyrgyzstan explained that the increased electricity consumption was putting a significant strain on the power grid. They mentioned that protective relay devices and automation systems are activated to prevent emergencies and ensure grid stability.
During a press conference, Deputy Minister of Energy Taalaibek Baigaziev mentioned a possible increase in power outages from March 5 onwards. He stated that if there is insufficient capacity, automatic systems will be reassessed, and additional regulatory measures may be implemented.
The National Electric Grid urged the public to conserve electricity.
