The Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Akylbek Zaparov, met with the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektanov, who was visiting the country on a working visit. The meeting took place at the State Residence "Ala-Archa".
Zaparov highlighted the strong potential to increase the bilateral trade volume between the two countries to $2 billion this year. In 2023, the mutual trade volume reached $1.317 billion, showing an increase of 11.6% compared to 2022. The export amounted to $455.7 million, while the import was $862.2 million.
Bektanov also acknowledged the dynamic development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. Kazakhstan is ready to increase exports in 195 product categories amounting to $260 million.
Both sides recognized the progress in enhancing the capacity of the Kazakh-Kyrgyz border and transit attractiveness for freight carriers. Plans for establishing an industrial trade-logistics complex at the shared border will further boost trade, economic, and investment cooperation.
