The Eurasian Economic Commission has considered Russia's proposal to expand the list of light industry goods subject to identification marking. The decision includes amendments to the existing regulatory acts of the Eurasian Economic Union.
The marking will now apply to suits, shirts, knitwear, artificial fur products, and some other types of clothing. Union countries can prohibit the circulation of unmarked products from April 1, 2024.
Andrey Slepnev, the Minister for Trade of the EEC, emphasized that the phased inclusion of new goods in the marking system is a logical step in enhancing consumer confidence and boosting the competitiveness of honest market participants by reducing illegal circulation.
It is worth noting that the marking of the new groups of goods will continue to be carried out according to unified rules, taking into account the provisions of the basic technological organizational model for product marking with identification means in the EAEU. This eliminates the need for re-marking goods when they are circulated within the EAEU territory.
