in Economy / Kyrgyzstan - by

The consolidated budget project for Bishkek in 2024, including targeted transfers from the republican budget and annexed rural districts due to the administrative-territorial reform, amounts to 32 billion 501 million 814.8 thousand soms. The city hall has put the budget project up for public discussion.

The capital's budget stands at 24 billion 660 million 712.3 thousand soms, with the annexed rural districts at 868 million 86.1 thousand. Targeted transfers from the republican budget will amount to 6 billion 973 million 16.4 thousand soms.

Of these, 4 billion 339 million 202.6 thousand will go towards purchasing buses, 2 billion 578 million 870.3 thousand for covering labor payment fund expenses of educational institutions in Bishkek including the annexed rural districts, and 54 million 943.5 thousand for the "Safe City" project.

As the city's budget is balanced, expenses are planned at the level of revenues. The acceptance of the resolution project will allow for the rational and efficient use of local budget funds for addressing local issues.

Public hearings on the budget are scheduled to take place across districts from March 13-16. It is worth noting that Kyrgyzstan has initiated an administrative-territorial reform in six regions, Bishkek, and Osh. The capital's territory has nearly tripled, while the number of administrative districts remains the same. The mayor will now approve the budget and tariffs.
