The Minister of Energy, Taalaibek Ibraev, revealed that the only mining farm in Kyrgyzstan is sourcing electricity from a new country. He made this announcement during a briefing today.

During a session of the Jogorku Kenesh yesterday, the minister disclosed that mining farms in Kyrgyz Republic are using electricity from Kazakhstan. "We are not supplying them with electricity. They have made arrangements with Kazakhstan. We cannot obstruct their operations," he stated.

In response, the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan stated that the export of electricity is solely for accumulating the necessary water levels at the Toktogul Hydroelectric Power Plant to ensure sufficient irrigation water for the southern regions during the upcoming growing season.

"We do have a valid agreement with Kazakhstan only for supplying electricity to fill the Toktogul reservoir with water. They are correct. We have one mining farm that uses 30 megawatts of electricity. They receive it from 'Inter RAO' (Russia) in transit through Kazakhstan," noted Taalaibek Ibraev.
