The consultant of the trade representation of Russia in the Kyrgyz Republic, Svetlana Antonova, announced today during the video conference "Geopolitics of transport corridors in Central Asia at the present stage" that the port in Astrakhan is prepared to welcome ferries with heavy-duty vehicles, including those from Kyrgyzstan.
According to her, alternative cargo delivery routes are actively developing at the moment, and Kyrgyzstan is also participating in this process. One of these routes is through Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan via the Caspian Sea to the Russian port of Astrakhan.
"I hope that the Turkmen side will approve the regulatory acts for the use of this route. Uzbekistan is already ready to use it. The port of Astrakhan has also completed dredging works and is ready to receive ferries with trucks, including those from Kyrgyzstan. I hope that Kyrgyz carriers will actively use this alternative corridor," emphasized Svetlana Antonova.
