Kyrgyz Deputy Head Addresses Trade Disparities with Uzbekistan in EAEU

Adylbek Kasymaliev, the First Deputy Head of the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers, commented on the difference in trade volumes between the member states of the EAEU. This information was reported by the Telegram channel "Kyrgyz Fortpost."

Significant differences were observed between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. However, the Kyrgyz Republic managed to significantly reduce the statistical gaps in trade with its neighbor.

In 2020, imports from Uzbekistan exceeded exports by four times, according to Adylbek Kasymaliev. The Deputy Prime Minister attributed this to corrupt practices at customs, as well as the schemes of Raim Matraimov.

To minimize this difference, an automated information system called the "Information Exchange Portal" was implemented jointly with the Customs Service of Uzbekistan. This system automatically analyzes information about the goods exchanged by customs officers of the two countries in real-time.

"As a result, the difference between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, which was 272 percent in 2020, decreased to 12 percent by 2023," summarized Adylbek Kasymaliev.
