Kyrgyzstan's international gross reserves reached $3,657.1 million by the end of April, as reported on the National Bank website. This marks the highest level of reserves in the entire history of the NB KR. Prior to this, the record levels were in March ($3,491.16 million) and February 2024 ($3,323.82 million), September 2021 ($3,241.14 million), and December 2023 ($3,236.48 million).
The National Bank utilizes reserves to smooth out sharp fluctuations in the currency market. In 2023, the bank conducted 14 interventions and sold $655.72 million. In 2024, the NB KR only carried out eight interventions: two for the sale of dollars amounting to $31.85 million each and six for the purchase totaling $113.35 million.
