Kyrgyzstan's External Trade Statistics for January 2024 Revealed

The National Statistical Committee presented the data on Kyrgyzstan's external trade for January this year, showing little change. In January 2024, the volume of imported goods exceeded exports by 5.4 times. Gold remains the most popular export, while imported goods include passenger cars, a trend that started in 2023.

Kyrgyzstan's Trade Partners

Trade with EAEU countries amounted to $278.3 million. Gold Dominates Exports Kyrgyzstan sold 1.1 tons of precious metal in January. Other popular exports included ores and concentrates of precious metals, petroleum products, passenger cars, and copper scrap. Dishwashers, previously in the top ten exports in 2023, were absent, but communication equipment exports continued.

Unconventional Exports

Kyrgyzstan exported speakers, microphones worth $1.6 thousand, and cutlery worth $700. Surprisingly, exports reached countries like Morocco, Panama, and Mexico. Continued Car Imports from China Car imports from China increased nearly 14.4 times compared to January 2023, with 8,204 cars worth $134.2 million imported. Additionally, 2.8 thousand cars worth $20.6 million were imported from South Korea, likely electric cars intended for resale in Russia due to changing Russian import conditions.

Import Trends

Dishwashers remained the second-largest import. In January 2024, Kyrgyzstan imported 16.4 thousand tons of dishwashers at around $9.8 thousand per ton. Other imports included ivory worth $800 and 61.9 tons of ready-made soups and broths worth $176.7 thousand. Kyrgyzstan also imports from exotic countries like Chile, Panama, Costa Rica, and Colombia.
