Significant Increase in Money Transfers to Kyrgyzstan in January 2024

According to the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, the inflow of money transfers to the country in January 2024 reached $259 million, marking a 55.6% increase compared to the previous year. The majority of these transfers, amounting to $244.1 million, came from Russia, with $7.9 million from other countries and $5.2 million from the United States.

In contrast, there was also an outflow of funds in January, totaling $56.4 million, primarily directed towards Russia. However, this outflow decreased by $600 thousand compared to the previous month and $1.6 million compared to January 2023.

The net inflow of money transfers in January 2024 amounted to $202.7 million, which is $94.3 million higher than in 2022. Throughout the previous year, Kyrgyzstan received a total of $2.706 billion in money transfers, with $561.2 million sent from Kyrgyzstan to other countries, resulting in a net inflow of $2.144 billion.
