Heavy rainfall on April 28 in Tajikistan led to landslides in several districts of the country, according to the Committee of Emergency Situations and Civil Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan.
On April 28 at 16:30, a mudflow descended from the surrounding hills onto the territories of the villages of Sharaf, Sadokat, and Todjikobod in the Zaynobod rural jamoat of the Rudaki district. The water flooded the roads, but did not cause any damage to the local economy.
On the same day, landslides also occurred in the village of Dakhana in the Galaobod rural jamoat of the Khojand district. The water also flooded the roads. The mud submerged 18 household plots in the village of Istiklol in the Imeni S. Aini rural jamoat of the Khojand district.
Today, the district commission for emergencies is working on-site to assess the damage and carry out relief efforts, as stated in the report.
Heavy rainfall on Sunday caused a rise in the water level in the Khodzhkalya canal in the village of Zafarobod in the Imeni K. Giyosova rural jamoat of the Jomi district in the Hatlon region. As a result, the water flooded 13 household plots and roads in the village. The district commission is on-site conducting relief operations.
Due to the heavy rains in the Kulyab district, near the village of Nobinoyon (Lagmon-2) in the city of Kulyab, the water level in the Kulyabdaryo river rose, posing a threat of erosion to the left and right banks of the river.
To address the situation, the riverbed was redirected by 150 meters using heavy engineering equipment, as noted by the Committee of Emergency Situations.
In the Hatirokh mahalla, the water level in the Devonasoye river rose, causing it to be blocked by a mass of mud and stones. The Department of Reclamation and Irrigation of the city of Kulyab is using special equipment to clear the riverbed of gravel and mud.
Additionally, on Sunday, an increase in the water level in the Yoksu river was recorded, leading to the erosion of a protective barrier at a section in the Kuchabog rural jamoat in the Imeni Kh. Radzhabov district in Vose.
Furthermore, on April 28, a rise in the water level in the Surkhob river was observed, resulting in partial erosion of protective dams in the Bachmanrud rural jamoat and the village of Shibanay in the Chilcha Temurmalik district. Fortunately, there were no casualties or significant damage in the affected areas, as reported by the authorities.
The Committee of Emergency Situations reminds that today, April 29, the country still faces the risk of landslides, mudslides, rockfalls, and rising water levels in the Yoksu and Kyzylsu (southern) rivers, as well as rivers flowing from the hills of the Hissar Range.
