Rosatom, the Russian corporation, will conduct the rehabilitation of territories affected by uranium mining and ore mining operations. The Russian government has allocated 2,141,420 rubles for this purpose. The agreement between the cabinet and the Russian government was approved today by the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on budget, economic, and fiscal policy.
According to the explanatory note to the bill, bilateral negotiations on the rehabilitation of tailings and mountain dumps have been ongoing since 2022.
The Russian side has requested tax exemptions for the supply of goods, performance of work, and provision of services related to the rehabilitation. The saved funds will be used for carrying out rehabilitation measures.
