Deputies of the Turkmenistan Mejlis and representatives from relevant ministries, in collaboration with consultants from the Asian Development Bank and the WTO, discussed the development of Turkmenistan's Trade Memorandum. This initiative is part of Turkmenistan's Foreign Trade Strategy for 2021-2030 and the National Program for Socio-Economic Development for 2022-2052.
Turkmenistan was granted observer status in the WTO in 2020, followed by active observer status in 2022. In 2023, the composition of the Working Commission for the development of the Trade Memorandum was approved. The country is actively engaging in activities to join the WTO, including national seminars, accession sessions, online lectures, courses, and conferences. For instance, the International Trade Center in Ashgabat recently organized an online training session on "Legal Aspects of the WTO and the Accession Process."
