In the Lebap region of Turkmenistan, silk farmers have started harvesting cocoons, as reported by the online publication "Vestiabad".
This year, the plan is to collect 1010 tons of silk cocoons in the region. Leading the production of mulberry silk cocoons are the silk farmers of the Charjew, Sayat, and Danev districts of the region, who are expected to deliver 261, 185.5, and 140 tons of cocoons respectively to the country's textile industry.
For this year, the region has signed 22.3 thousand contracts with tenants, providing 27,650 boxes of silkworm eggs to specialists. Thanks to the responsible work and support of the Lebap Region Silk Association, the necessary conditions have been created for the production and care of silk cocoons. Consequently, a large quantity of mulberry silk cocoons has been produced in the region.
