The Uzbekistan national football team emerged victorious against Hong Kong in the fourth round of the World Cup 2026 qualifiers. The match, held on March 26 at the "Bunyodkor" Stadium in Tashkent, ended with a score of 3-0.
The first goal was scored in the 20th minute by forward Eldor Shomurodov, who accurately shot after a pass from Abbosbek Fayzullaev.
The second goal came from Hoshimmat Erkinov, who scored from outside the penalty area in the 63rd minute, just six minutes after coming on as a substitute.
The final goal was sealed by striker Oston Urinov, who outplayed the goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation.
Head coach Srecko Katanec was absent from the game due to illness.
With 10 points, Uzbekistan currently holds the second position in the qualifiers, behind Iran (10 points) who secured a victory against Turkmenistan (0-1) in a parallel match and has a better goal difference.
Uzbekistan has advanced to the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the final tournament of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.
