Julia Putintseva Wins Birmingham Title, Climbs 7 Spots in World Rankings

Julia Putintseva, the 41st-ranked tennis player in the world, emerged victorious at the tournament in Birmingham, England.

In the final, Putintseva defeated Ajla Tomljanovic from Australia (ranked 190th in the WTA rankings) in two sets with a score of 6:1, 7:6 (10:8). She made a remarkable comeback in the second set from being down 3:5 and saved two set points.

This title in Birmingham marks Putintseva's third career title overall and her first on grass. Following this win, she will climb seven spots in the world rankings to 34th place on Monday, June 24th, as announced by the Tennis Federation of Kazakhstan. It is also her first title of the season.

This milestone final on grass at a WTA tournament is a first in Putintseva's career. She secured her place in the final by defeating Italian player Elisabetta Cocciaretto (WTA No. 44) in straight sets with a score of 6:2, 6:2.
