Chinese Paraglider Injured in Zhetysu World Cup; Rescuers Save the Day

At the Paragliding World Cup in the Zhetysu region, a Chinese athlete sustained an injury on June 21st.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Kazakh rescuers came to his aid.

"During the Paragliding World Cup competition in the Zhetysu region, a 1972-born Chinese citizen launched from a mountain at a height of 800 meters. Unable to control his paraglider, the athlete started to fall, but managed to deploy a reserve parachute before the fall. The paraglider suffered an injury during a rough landing," the statement said.

It is noted that the athlete was airlifted to the Taldykorgan hospital by the "Kazaviaspas" helicopter.

Previously, there was another incident reported. In the Karasai district, search operations were conducted for a 20-year-old man who got lost while descending from a mountain near the Big Almaty Peak area. The man was found near the Almaty-Arasan gorge.
