Uzbekistan's Nodirbek Abdusattorov has joined the ranks of the world's top four chess players in the International Chess Federation rankings for March.
With 2765 Elo points, he sits in 4th place, surpassing current world champion Ding Liren (2762) and other renowned chess players. Ahead of him are only Hikaru Nakamura from the USA (2789), Fabiano Caruana from the USA (2803), and multiple world champion Magnus Carlsen from Norway (2830).
Abdusattorov has set a record for Uzbekistani chess players: a year ago, he became the highest-rated player, and now he has reached the top four. Previously, only Rustam Kasimdzhanov had reached 11th place with a peak rating of 2715.
The Uzbekistani player's rating improvement was fueled by his performances at the team championship in Germany (Bundesliga) and his victory at the super tournament - the chess festival in Prague (Prague International Chess Festival).
Chess coach Georgiy Shvanov shared with "Gazeta.uz" about Nodirbek Abdusattorov's success and the opportunities that lie ahead for him.
