Uzbekistan Wrestlers Shine at Asian Championship in Bishkek, Claiming 7 Medals

Uzbekistan's wrestling team showcased their talent at the Asian Adult Championship in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, bringing home a total of 7 medals - 2 silver and 5 bronze. The National Olympic Committee's press service announced the outstanding results achieved by the Uzbek athletes.

The silver medals were secured by Javrail Shapiev in the 86kg freestyle wrestling category and Sherzod Poyonov in the 92kg freestyle wrestling category. As for the bronze medals, Asomidin Khasanov won in the 79kg freestyle wrestling, Abdullo Aliev in the 72kg Greco-Roman wrestling, Doniyorhon Nabikov in the 77kg Greco-Roman wrestling, Muhammadkodir Rasulov in the 82kg Greco-Roman wrestling, and Rahimjon Uzokov in the 87kg Greco-Roman wrestling.

The overall team standings saw Iran clinching the top spot with 5 gold, 3 bronze medals, and 190 team points. Japan followed closely behind in second place with 2 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze medals, and 130 points. The host country, Kyrgyzstan, rounded up the top three with 1 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze medals, and 121 points. Uzbekistan claimed the sixth position with a total of 85 points.

Looking ahead, from April 19th to 21st, Kyrgyzstan's capital will host a qualifying tournament for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Uzbekistan's national team members will be among the participants vying for coveted spots in the prestigious sporting event.
