With just over a month to go, the Tashkent International Marathon BYD is gearing up to be one of Uzbekistan's premier sporting events. Scheduled for April 21st, professional athletes and running enthusiasts from 32 countries are set to participate in this traditional spring marathon.

In 2024, the sixth Tashkent International Marathon BYD is expecting around 6000 runners. Already, over 2000 individuals, including members of leading running clubs in Central Asia, have applied to join. Elite athletes from both near and far have also been invited to take part in the marathon, thanks to the initiative of the Uzbekistan Athletics Federation.

This marathon holds international significance, being awarded the World Athletics Label status and listed on the official calendar of competitions by the World Athletics association. The route of the Tashkent International Marathon is certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). International expert observers will be present in Tashkent to ensure that the event meets the highest standards in line with international regulations.

Registration for participants is ongoing on the Perfend.com online platform. The event program includes a full marathon (42 km), a half marathon (21 km), as well as 3 km and 10 km races, catering to various levels of running enthusiasts. The day before the main marathon, on April 20th, there will be a Kids Run and a Nordic walking competition, popular among participants of different age groups.

Participants are required to pay a registration fee depending on the chosen distance, ranging from 150,000 to 350,000 Uzbekistani som. This fee grants them access to their selected race distance and a race kit containing essential items.

In 2024, a new service is introduced where participants can opt for silver, gold, or platinum race numbers. These special numbers provide access to live tracking of the race through the marathon's Telegram bot. The cost varies based on the chosen distance, ranging from 250,000 to 1.2 million som.

The Tashkent International Marathon aims to promote a healthy lifestyle and encourage both professional athletes and amateur runners to excel. The event will also offer a total prize fund of 720 million som, with additional bonuses for breaking course records in the marathon and half marathon categories.

The starting and finishing point of the marathon will be at the Humo Arena sports complex in one of the central districts of Tashkent. The race routes will pass through the city's central streets, allowing participants to immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere of the new running city.

The marathon is organized by various entities, including the Tashkent City Administration, the Ministry of Sports of Uzbekistan, and other government and sports organizations. The Uzbekistan Athletics Federation, in collaboration with the Central Asian Athletics Association, is overseeing the event for the sixth consecutive year.

Registration for the sixth Tashkent International Marathon BYD closes on April 5th. Race kits distribution will take place from April 17th to 19th at Magic City amusement park from 10:00 to 19:00.
