President Shavkat Mirziyoyev recently reviewed plans for the development and expansion of football infrastructure in local communities. The presentation, led by Sports Minister Adham Ikramov and other officials, outlined strategies to utilize existing stadiums and build new facilities through public-private partnerships. The initiative aims to establish male and female community teams across different age groups, with talented young players receiving opportunities to join professional football institutions. Additionally, youth leaders in communities will be supported by regional football associations and sports schools.
Drawing from the experience of the English Schools' Football Association, a system for electing school football leaders among students in grades 8-11 will be implemented. Furthermore, a two-tier "Community League" for teenagers aged 12-15 and a three-stage Cup for the State Security Service in the 16-30 age category will be organized. These efforts are expected to enhance football infrastructure, identify and nurture young talent, and build a strong pool of players for national teams.
President Mirziyoyev endorsed the proposals, emphasizing the importance of fostering a sporting and friendly atmosphere among youth, as well as ensuring high-quality organization of competitions. The recent focus on community football development comes in the wake of previous advocacy efforts to protect local playing fields, such as the case of the "Yunus Rajabi" neighborhood in Tashkent. The commitment to preserving these spaces for children's activities has garnered support from various organizations and political parties, reflecting a broader commitment to grassroots sports development across Uzbekistan.
